We built each story based on each young mother and her child, trying to stay as close as possible to what drove each of them, letting ourselves be guided by the inner necessity of each path, both inside and outside the maternity home. In a way that would create a film which, while being a group portrait, is above all five portraits of young mothers each living her own story, made up of social situations and personal emotional relationships.
Jeunes Mères is a production by Les Films Du Fleuve, Archipel 35 & The Reunion in coproduction with France 2 cinéma, Be TV & Orange, Proximus, RTBF (télivision belge) and with the support of the Film and Audiovisual Center of Wallonia Brussels Federation (FWB), the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF), Eurimages, Canal+, Cine+ OCS, France Télivisions, Wallimage (La Wallonie), Region île-de-France, the Tax Shelter Measure of the Belgian Federal Government and Casa Kafka Pictures.
The film is distributed in the Benelux by Cinéart and in France by Diaphana. International sales are handled by Goodfellas.
